Oh, WOW!!! This is just unbelievable! You did an amazing job on this!! Was it an entry for a cake show? If not, it most certainly should have been!
Thanks everyone for your lovely comments. This piece was for an exhibition so I wasnt very particular about making it all edible. But that is achieveable. The neck and torso is scuplted cake and its connected to the head by a 1inch pvc pipe passed through the neck, right down to the board. The foundation of the head is a 3 inch styrofoam ball but that can be replaced with a ball made from rice krispie treats. I built the features of the face with pastillage after covering the ball with a layer of fondant. I let the pastilage dry then laid a layer of fondant skin over the face. I have a 2nd layer of skin which which covers the face, neck and torso like a wrap. The dress is draped 50/50 paste with hand painted designs. I'm not a sculptor. This is my first life size piece. I used my son as a model and just told myself that its the same old modelling techniques on a larger scale. I must say it turned out to be my piece piece.
Amazing!!! How is the head not falling off. Is it made of rice krispy treats or cake?
Wow... Wow
