Sure Tracy--- I use a Walmart product "Great Value" butter and vanilla also McCormick vanilla and Land-o-Lakes butter.

Tracy... Yes I make my own. My frosting is not really white/white. The pictures show it to be whiter than it is. I use a combo of butter and Crisco ( not much) & vanilla (when needed) so it's slightly off white. But my customers don't mind that it is off white, they like the taste of the real butter in it. I use it also for my wedding cakes with no complaints.

Betty just wandering if you make your own buttercream frosting I am happy trouble using just vanilla without getting that chemical after taste from the shortening. I do use butter/shortening combination. Could you help me out with trying to get a wite vanilla frosting. Thanks
