Looked pretty, even when cut, because of the pink strawberry coloring of the cake itself. She removed the top round, and they demolished the rest of it. The kids all wanted the towers & such!

looks yummy
Thank you Sandra!
I was met at the door by 5 little smiling faces, and they all watched as I put it together. Full of all kinds of nonrelated questions too lol
Jordan was not allowed to come, her parents seemed to think that I needed a break from her, guess they will never learn, or not until they are in my position, age wise. lol But she did a lot of smiling when she saw the pictures from the party, and she picked the cake out right away.
After Amy put the top 6" round in the fridge, the rest of the cake disappeared so fast, I was afraid they would eat straws & all! They did not even let her bring the remaining cake back to the table. They managed to cut it while half was hanging over the sink! And the men were not alone in the attack on the cake. Did my little heart GOOD!
Oh, it does look beautiful cut! I had forgotten that it was strawberry. From the looks of what is left, I would say it was a roaring success. Were the kids thrilled to death with the cake? Was Jordan there? If so, was she proud because she "helped" :o) ?
As June said, RI! You guys have taught me that if works for everything!
Thanks June, I WILL remember that for the next time! lol
Initially I tried to get the thick cut yellow GummyGel to just sit in the windows, but they kept falling out. Then I tried cutting them larger that the windows & sticking them on the inside of the towers. Looked nice, but they kept sliding down, so I put them on the outside where I could correct them. They still tended to slide down, but I could easily fix them this way. Started to leave them off all together, but hubby said they looked fine. This pic shows some of the slippage. Probably should not have used piping gel, will investigate soon as I can, to figure this problem out. I know for a fact, that it works fine when applied to fresh fondant, using just water when needed. These towers/torrents were dried hard. Any & all ideas are welcome.
Now it looks like a castle sitting on top of a cliff! lol
