Tell me! Mine won't eat cake at all, only applesauce or banana bread, and NO icings, ever! And the occasional '1' slice of apple pie, not even worth cooking one for. Strictly a meat & potatoes man! lol That is why I never did any baking!

My Mom was a good cook...but basic. She complimented me later after marriage and 2 kids. Said I was more "inventive" with my cooking...more spices, more texture etc. Same with my cakes...never boring icings..I used different types and flavours. But, in her defense, my Dad like plain ole simple food. Plain simple cakes with custard, simple pies...etc. Hard to stretch yourself  if hubby ain't gonna eat it!!

Don't know, she took it with her.  But, tell the truth now, ... have you ever really bitten into a pc of cake that was NOT good?  Can't remember doing so myself, though a lot are way better than others, they are all 'cake'.  And NO, you may NOT kick me off the site for saying such a thing! lol  We all prefer the better ones, and now so do I!!  But a few years back, I didn't know there even was a difference.  When I said that I never did much baking before, you can believe that I meant it!!  Now I adore having a slice of nice moist cake.  And with flavors, & fruit, and such added!  Never even knew that existed then. {:o(

That was mean, Bonnie, but funny as heck!  Think I'll do it to my neighbor :o)  I don't see how you got this one to say upright!
