Terrific Michelle, thank you so much.  I was thinking of using a heavy gauge floral wire,so that's really good to know.  I think I may have been a bit ambitious as I am going to try to do mine standing up with wings splayed (!).  So far I have managed to get him standing up on his own - now here comes the tricky bit lol!  Thanks again.

Hi Katy,

To make the frame for the wings I used heavy gauge floral wire, double twisted and covered in floral tape. This was enough to hold it to the body and support the weight of the fondant.

I then used fondant mixed with tylos (rolled not too thin) and laid it over the frame. Piping gel was used to secure the fondant to the wire frame. Let dry for a day or two.

Good luck, and can't wait to see pictures!!!

Hi Michelle.  Hope you don't mind me asking, but I am in the process of making a dragon now (Game of Thrones version).  I have the body done and about to start on the wings, which are scaring me a bit!  Did you use wire to support them on this?
