Hi Suzie............ I have another one of these to do this weekend!!!!!!!
Don't know where to begin,.............first of all I make my own sugar paste it dries to a more solid state so I can get that curve in the wave without it collapsing.
I make the surf board well inadvance. I put it to dry on a piece of oasis( the stuff you put dried flowers in) with a skewer through it and into the oasis. leave at least 4" of skewer showing above the surf board.
The figure is made of bought fondant and is easier to work with. mould and push one of the legs on to the skewer that is coming out of the board then the body and then the head. Add the other leg and arms and leave to dry. At this point I have kitchen paper holding the arms out , between his legs and sometimes under his chin.
Another thing I forgot to tell you, make sure you wet the skewer (not too much) before skewring the body on.
When this has dried you just lift it from the oasis and onto the finished wave.
I'm doing it tomorrow so I'll take photos of the different stages of the wave, it will be easier then explaining!!!!!!!!!!
hope that was clear!!!. I learnt how to make the little figures on a 2 day course in January but they were just the bride and groom standing with their hands by their sides, I have adapted them slightly, they are very challenging though because the paste has a dendancy to gravitate!!!!!
nothing like a challenge!

Wow Ann I'm impressed! How did you do it? Did you use anything to support the surfer? How is he stuck onto the wave? and how on earth did you make the wave?!! It is amazing!
