The modeling chocolate bodies held up pretty well. If I can remove the gum paste feathers, I will be able to repair.

lol , you girls crack me up , !! love that song !!
LOL! LOL! LOL! Katy, you are so right! I didn't even think of it, but I think this is exactly what Richard Harris had in mind when he wrote the song!
oh my God - what a sorry, sorry sight! Do you know the old song McArthur Park? 'Someone left the cake out in the rain. I don't think that I can take it, 'cos it took so long to bake it'.............
Here is a tissue, Bonnie :o) Smile, my friend....tis all over.
The birds bodies are made of modeling chocolate so they held up better than everything else. The problem with them is removing all the damaged feathers so they can be replaced. I tried to full out some of the wires you can see sticking out of the wing and it wouldn't come out! I think there is a demon in there holding it!
The little girl bird (don't know why I think of the sitting one as the girl and the flying one as the boy, but I do) is not as visibly damaged, but all of her feathers are melted too. I really guess the degree of damage is about the same on both. I do want to salvage the birds, if possible, so I may try to soak the feathers off the chocolate core????? What could it hurt?
Boo Hoo Hoo... That grand bird! I forgot to put keeping it safe during the fair in my prayers, just wanted you , & it, to get there safely. The one lower on the perch looks less damaged? And there goes all those beautiful flowers too. It is a good thing you are so resilient! And able to put a smile on, that has got to help!
It didn't melt, but was broken in several places. If I can salvage the birds, I will be happy.
The medallion looks pretty good or is it?
