neat! I thought that might have been what you had used, but I wasn't sure. I have one of those 3 sided "combs" never thought about using it on top of the cake! Good idea! Do you wait till it's crusted or freshly iced?

Thanks so much, the wave pattern is made with a decorators comb or triangle. You can get them for about 2 dollars or less, they have 3 different sides on them and the one I used is the metal one. The way to get this look is to turn your cake to a portraitand get the comb and make straight lines starting from the top and combing the cake straight down. Then starting from the top again I always start on the left hand side of the cake and make the wave pattern and keep repeating the pattern until you are finished. Just make sure that you are offsetting your pattern every other turn.

Beautiful, very neatly done! How did you make the wave patterns on the cake? i love that idea!
