My leaf pile cake is made with white cake layers and filled with white buttercream frosting. The leaves covering the cake are made of dark chocolate and peanut butter bark-broken into small jagged pieces, with an added touch of shredded chocolate to give the look of leaves. I also used leaf cookie cutters for some specific leaf designs and hand painted them with autumn colored powders for that dark finish. The pumpkin on the left is a regular-sized white cupcake shaped into a pumpkin and covered in fondant then hand painted. The basket of apples on top is all hand crafted- including the apple stems. The rest of the decorations include an edible pumpkin on the left and a small apple covered in sanding sugar on top for that added sparkle and special touch. Nut shells are included on the bottom and tops of the cake as a reminder of the nuts we land on when jumping into the piles!
