This cake had it challenges, but it was so much fun. Half sheet devil's food base, three tier 9" square castle, fondant covered marshmallow turrets, fondant covered sugar cone tops. Trees: pretzels & royal icing and royal icing decorated sugar cones. Marshmallow fondant was used for all coverings, windows, & door. Gum paste and royal icing flowers. Butter mints used for keystone top. Gum paste flag on top. I had initially made the turrets from rice cereal treats, but the humidity was so high that they wouldn't hold. The 4-year old birthday girl was in awe over this cake. The best part - she gave me the biggest hug and thanked me many, many times.
