ty, ty, ty, Sophie I can't remember how long it took but not no more than 4 hours for the whole cake, the pattern is quite big, and yes the flowers are real. In the UK this is really popular I call it the flower sandwich. real flowers are much cheaper than sugar flowers so alot of people opt for this.

Denise,I suppose you could use an imprint but i don't I just do it free hand.. I do have a pattern in front of me, and for this cake the pattern was from wall paper!!!
