Thank you so much Betty. It does look a lot like a traybake recipe of Mary Berry's that I use sometimes. I'll be giving this one a go next time we need cake (which won't be long I don't think as my husband goes through cake like a dose of salts!).
Sure Katy, don't mind at all. I use 2 recipes of batter for this size.
1 cup soft butter---2 cups granulated sugar(white)---4 eggs ( room temperature)
3 cups sifted SELF-RISING FLOUR---1 cup whole milk(room temperature)---1 teaspoon pure vanilla
Cream butter and sugar til fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beat well after each egg is added.
Add flour and milk (alternating) ending with flour. Add vanilla. Stir just till mixed. (DO NOT OVER MIX)
Bake 350 about 25 mins for 9" pans, 35min for sheet. HTH and good luck baking
pretty
Hey Betty - do you mind sharing your butter cake recipe for this size? I've never made an 'American' cake and would like to give it a try, but don't know where to start. You make so many, you must have a completely foolproof recipe?
Just too too lovely Betty!
