Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

This is my 4th cake. It was for my granddaughter. Can you figure out who it is that she likes to watch? First I made Laura Carrot & Jr. Asparagus. Then I went to work on te rest of the cast. Did not make them all, because I did not have room for them on the cake! I tried to keep them all to scale. Larry Boy, the number 3, and Bob Tomato, on top of the cake, have the 3 candles on their tops, for my little 3 yr. old to blow out. I am pleased with the characters, but once again I got carried away with the buttercream and overdid the flowers. The leaves & vines were enough to set the garen theme for the 'Veggies', then I went & covered them up with the flowers! Should not have put flowers on a kids cake anyway.

Thanks Linda, that was quite a colorful ride-haha.  Cheryl is definitely NOT afraid of color!  And you really can do a lot with buttercream alone.

Bonnie, art is subjective and I really do not think that you are over doing any of your cakes. Take a look at Cheryl's cakes. http://www.cakeswebake.com/profile/CherylAdamsKier

I love her work. They are so vibrant and colorful. Whenever she posts a new one, I always know it's hers because her style has become her signature. You decorate what is pleasing to your eye, and eventually it becomes your artistic signature. =O)

Ok Bonnie.
I can delete the photos for you, or you delete them yourself. Then click on the top where it says photos. Page with all posted photos comes up. Click " Add", then add your photos as you would normally with title & description.

June, I just realized I uploaded these last pics to the 'Veggie Tales' folder?  Can you tell me how to put them in the general album where they belong?  Thanks, Bonnie.

June & Linda, thank you & thank you.  It was so much fun doing these guys.  And the kids had fun eating them.  My homemade MMF must be nice & soft, because they had NO problem eating them, and I had made them well in advance to give them time to dry & harden!  I mostly flavor with a combo of vanilla & almond, nothing fancy, and the kids just love it!  If you took a gander at my Halloween cake, you will see that I am still 'overdoing it'... lol.  I do have Jr. Asparagus & 1 French Pea left.  She found, on my mantle, & ate Laura Carrot round about August(holding it in the picture).  So I put the other 2 up higher.  Thanks again for your nice comments!

I just read your description...I don't think you got carried away at all! Kids love color and they love icing! It's perfect!
