My 3rd. cake! 12x12 & 8x8 sq.s, with 6x6 petal. all in strawberry with sugar water brushed on. 3 layers covered with 3 shades of light purple fondant, and decorated with 3 shades of light pink buttercream roses with 2 styles of leaves. Top border is rosettes, 2nd. is shell, and bottom is beads. used tips 14, 16, & 18 for the swirls. Added a few fondant butterflies & a message using the Funky Letter Tappit set. The Angel is a princess plastic/rubber piggy bank, painted all in yellow. I painted the yellow arms in gloves & earings whilte, then covered the yellow dress and headband with white fondant. Added white fondant wings, then Pearl dusted her. Very thick stack of cake boards under her, then a metal cookie sheet under that. This was a very heavy cake.

Bonnie, beautiful cake! Love the doll! Never made an edible doll yet and will try one day!
Sofia was '1', this was more for her parents pleasure. I got lucky with this one! Beginner's luck, the best kind! lol And I can only hope they kept the doll, for her, for later! If you remove the fondant, there is a perfectly good Princess bank under there! lol This was done before I came up with my mold recipe. Now I would have the top/doll edible too!
This cake is gorgeous. I know Sofia loved it.
it is said that a master cake decorator can fix any thing , well if you had booboos it worked in your favor !
'Awesome, a master in NOTHING!' lol But thank you Gail, for all the lovely compliments.
First off, I stacked the cakes in the corner to hide a booboo. Then I wanted to try out my new flower shaped pan, hense the little guy on top. I figured it shouldn't be too hard to cover that size with fondant. They wanted purple, so I just went with 3 shades, for the 3 tiers, never did that before, still learning.
As for the design, what design??? I just put on the writing, then added roses to fill in the empty places, until I ran out of ones/roses good enough to use. I really & truly have never had a design in mind for anything that I do. That is probably why I keep overdoing on the decorating, just don't know when to stop---until it is too late, that is. lol
As for the roses, I took the Wilton class, but learned just as much from youtube. All that just to learn that it is all in the consistency! The right consistency and you end up with a decent rose. I am still having problems with that one! lol
awesome , a master in fondant and piping !!! its a beautiful idea , the way you disgned this cake , i have never seen one like this one , it has a wow factor !the more i look at it the more beautiful i see all the flowers adorning this cake are ,do you even know how many time's i have tryed doing rose by piping them , lol i cant count anymore lol , i will have to try again ,
Thank you both! That was my second attempt at piping roses. I spent every spare moment the day before practicing, and piping like crazy, and popping them in the fridge, just hoping I would have enough descent ones to put on the cake. My description made it sound easy, didn't it??? HA to that! Now doing the angel was fun, even down to the cuffs on the sleeves. I am a bit proud of that one. The fondant cooperated..., My angel was with me.
Beautiful cake, love the roses & the angel. You're very talented.
this is so pretty , your piped rose's are beautiful , i cant pipe !!
This is just beautiful! I am just flabber ghasted that this is only your 3rd cake!
