Hi everyone my name is Emi and I like to share the best cake release recipe with you:


1/2 cup flour  all purpose 

1/2 cup vegetable oil

1/2 cup  shortening 


Mix  all the above till smooth. Will keep for 2 weeks apply with  paintbrush.

Hi! I'm Christina. Just retired from bakery work. Now I have time for my favorite pass time. Looking at recipes and trying new ones! I still do decorate a few cakes but not as many.

Emi do you have to refrigerate this?  I don't use my cake release on a reg. basis so I am wondering if I refrigerated it in-between uses if that would help it last longer?  And I Could just bring it to room temperature when ready to use?   TIA Julie Payne

Hi Julie Payne,

Not necessarily, but if you do keep it in the refrigerator it will be just fine, no need to be at room temperature because  the oil and the shortening as well keep their consistency  spreadable. 

If you don’t need as much, you can make a small amount: just use equal amount of oil, shortening and flour (¼ cup or tablespoon)
