I received the photos of the cake with the Calla lilies and was so disappointed! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw how these "trained" bakers did the swag. The bouquets ends was just plastered onto the cake with a dollop of icing (I assume) and that was colored yellow. No finesse, no nothing. I am seriously considering not making flowers for them anymore. In the end it is my name that is associated with the cake, so I would rather have less work and good results than see my work on something like this. There was so much that could have been done with this cake. What do you all suggest...I'd love to hear your comments.

Bravo you!
sounds good to me .Magdalena !, good luck ,
Thank you for your lovely compliment on my work. I spoke to the manager and he will try to make arrangements for me to show them how to make drapes and place flowers correctly. I am still a novice but at least I do a better job. I guess some people do this for money (salary) and then some people, like all of us, do this because we love doing it. That is why we do not even care how many hours we spend working on our creations, And that is why we are proud of what we do,

I have never ever seen "swags" like that before and do you know why because they aren't swags. Swags are beautiful drapings. These look like something out of a clay gun. Not only that but the number of "drapes" aren't matching on the layers. Also, the heights of the cakes are different. The beautiful delicate flowers should have given them an clue as to how to complete the cake! These people are not professionals they are just people who own a cake shop. Your job is to make your beautiful flowers for the cake and get paid for them. You hand your flowers to them and they decorate the cakes. It's their name they have to be worried about. Your flowers were just fine. At least you are getting your income. It may be an idea to give them some guidance though ie delicate flowers, delicate cake, modern flowers, modern cake, no unsightly blobs of icing to stick the flowers on which is also a different colour! You can always look around for another outlet for your work whilst making flowers for the shop. At least you are getting paid for something you love doing.
Well Magdalena - you got an awesome number of comments and loads of support on this one. Glad to see it. Seems like you have taken the right steps with the baker and who knows, something even better may come out of this. xx
