Silly question but if I add some canned pumpkin to my buttercream (with pumpkin pie spice) will it make my buttercream lumpy or curdled looking? Or will it be ok? I am making spice cupcakes and want to ice them with a pumpkin pie spice buttercream, but dont want to mix it up if it isnt' even going to work! Or is there a better way/recipe for that flavor buttercream? Thanks! :)

Sounds good! Test out a small amount and key us know how it turn out.

i have know some 1 that uses pumkin instant pudding  and mix it with the buttercream it comes out awesome ! you can use any flavors of puddings also , but that works realy well the instant pudding add it in with your powder sugar ! than add milk as needed !

Hmm, you know, I think I have some of that instant pumpkin pudding! Thanks! I just hate to go thru the process of making it only to have to throw it out. :)

she saz its awesome ! i have the instant putting also ! i am  going to use it on a carrotcake buttercream pumkin

you shouldn't have any problem with this... Im going to be doing the same thing next week. I would add a little bit at a time before dumping a bunch in there. Basically keep adding it till you get the flavor you want.

Sounds yummy have fun!!!

Thanks for your help! I'll try it with the canned pumpkin and the instant pudding to see what flavor I like best. I knew I could count on you guys!!! :)

You can get pumpkin pie filling - has sugar and spices in it.  I am wondering if that would be better than the straight canned pumpkin which needs things added to it.  The first thing I would do with either of these is cream it with a beater or by hand to get it smooth (add it with the butter?) before adding dry items.  Love to hear the results!

Oh my word!  U gals, in my wildest dreams would I ever think that one could get pumpkin instant pudding!  Here in SA I have only ever seen chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, caramel, butterscotch and now and then Moirs brings out a limited edition like milktart flavour etc.  I would love to taste that - sounds like something yummy!  Methinks I must write to Moirs SA and ask them to consider putting it out as a limited edition and testing the market ....... oh yummo xoxo

AWESOME YOU GO GIRL , ; ), GET YOU PUMKIN ; ))

Have written to Moirs - keeping fingers crossed :-)

Jennine...I do it all the time..it comes out great.  Use the pumpkin mix with the spices already in it.  Makes it taste like pumpkin mousse.  Oh!  I use IBC I dont know how it would taste with regular butter cream but if it works with IBC I imagine it would be ok wtht regular.  But please don't give out my secret recipe to anyone..lol (Make sure you either drain it a little first or mix the pumpkin mix well before adding it to frosting, sometime a little water will sit on top of pumpkin when you open it)

Hi there, we dont get the canned pumpkin but surely if one cooked up pumpkin with spices, mashed it and let it lie in a sieve to get rid of the water, it would also do the trick?  I am gonna give it a go and will let you all know :-)  Be safe there in Sandy's path xox
