Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

HI I have recently been asked to make a World War One trench for a 40th Birthday cake.

I would really like to make edible barbed wire for no mans land.

So has anyone got any ideas of how I could do this?

You will enjoy working with the Royal icing and if you go on the computer and find a pattern of a barbed wired fence or just barbed wire you can lay it on a carboard pin down your wax paper over it then just follow the lines and let it dry peel off the wax papaer and you are good to go you can also do this with chocoilate melts however if you are in a humidified environment then the chocolate will get soft so good luck with everything and hope it turns out good for you Glad I was able to help

I had a customer that wanted a barbed wire look on her wedding cake. She brought me some kind of leather strands of barbed wire from a craft store. I wound a really thin wire through it and put it around the cake. The picture is in my photos, it's the 3-square on a stump cake.
