Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Hi everyone, i have been trying to figure out how to make a base for a high heel shoe to put the cake on, i was a sculpted high heel cake thats all cake, not the gumpaste shoe(i can do that). I know it takes some construction but i have not gotten it figured out just yet. so if anyone has made this shoe cake please help.

What I can think of this is to make the shoe made of cake and the heel of rice krispies, with a dowel inside the heel. O if what you need is the base for the shoe part, you can use a very thik and hard cardboard to shape the part of the arch an cover it with rice krispy ( a thin layer) and then fondant.

I hope this helps!!!
Some people use gumpaste or chocolate for molding it. But if you want an easy way there are molds that they asell for the high heels.
What about a shoe on a pillow or shoe box and have the box/pillow be out of cake. I made my daughter a Cinderella shoe out of Chocolate
Take a look at my blog at this link for pictures.

this is where iam stuck because something has to form the base and arch in order to place the cake on top, then cover the cake with fondant, this cake needs to feed at least 75 people, so it needs to be a big shoe cake. I will try what ur saying, i think maybe a peice of wood curved as the shoe with he heel seperate and drilled into it then the cake fills in the front of the shoe and i use the rice kripies for the rest (middle and the back) i will let you know how it turns out. thanks for getting my thinkin wheels turning.

thanks for the replies to this haunting question, i believe silvina has jumped started my creativity. This shoe cake has to feed 75people and be all cake,no gumpaste shoe. So my biggest problem was the construction of the base to this cake. I think using all wood for the construction of the base and rice krispie to fill in where i cannot put the cake. Wen iam done i will make a tutorial (if i comes out ok). Thanks everyone.
Hello Monica,

I am interested to know what you came up with and would like to see pictures. I have a request for the same thing.
I am considering a wooden base or a foam board base. It is close to the holidays so they have tall cone shaped
styrofoam I bought for the heel. I plan on making the mouth of the shoe out of cake and rice crispies for the base and sides.
Haven't practiced it yet. I just brain stormed it today. Please sure your thoughts and pics.

hi emma,

i never did make the high heel shoe cake the party was cancelled, but what you describe is what i had in mind, i figured i needed and wooded base curved as a shoe, then heel whould have to be styrofoam, you might not need the rice krispie, for instance, once you place the wood (Shoe shaped) onto the styrofoam heel the wood will touch down to your board, u will need to apply an L bracett to connect that(like in the shape of a step) middle part of the shoe to the mouth,(this will give you the high heel shape) because if it is a high heel is has to have that incline and you will need support. if the wood is wide enough u can just simply fill that incline with cake.

i have been on other websites, it crazy how no one has ever done this before and no one knows what the heck iam talking about. Sorry i have no pics for you, but i thought long about it and if this helps, i did see ACE OF CAKES do a high heel shoe cake (it was huge), they built the constrution for it just as i described, u maybe able to go on the website for that channel and look up that cake and play video for it to give you some insight. Please send me pics of your cake, i would love to see how you did it.

good luck
Thanks...we are familiar with the gumpaste shoe instructions. We want the cake to be a high Hell shoe.
Monica,

I did it! Of course the heel is rice krispy treats. Ny friend made me the base out if acrylic. first attempt...didn't have time for a trail run. Will try modeling chocolate for the heel the next time I make it.!
