Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Great to start a new group, it's always nice to communicate and make new friends doing what we like best!

I've returned to NZ after many years and my cake decorating has taken me to lots of places overseas in some form or another. Happy decorating!

Thanks for joining Jane. I've approached a few other kiwis on this site so hope we get more interest soon. Suzie
Hi Jane
Great to see you here too!
The world is sooo small! I'm still looking at going to Taupo and just waiting on the agent to send the lease so I can have a looky...Have a nice weekend, market at Ohope tomorrow so I'll go and sell my wares! Cheers.....
How exciting! for you. I currently have a customer opening a shop in Te awamutu May 10th - certainly seems to be a good time, for all things cake. She will be selling cake dec items & hiring out tins. As well as selling her cakes. Would you be moving to Taupo?
Hi Sandra, Yes, if these premises are available I'm going to move back to 'Taupo, it's my hometown. I was born there and I left over 40 years ago quite weird really. I brought a Wilton Cake Decorating book from the local bookstore there in 1968 and starting selling and decorating cakes to the staff at the local telephone exchange where I worked. Scary, and I'm still on that path! One big circle, lol... Cheers.
Wow! - Keep me posted.
Hi, thanks for asking me to join Suzie, I love looking at everyones cakes, good way to waste my precious time lol

Suzie, did you use a cake pan for your My Little Pony cake or just cut it out yourself? If you did, have you got any tips? I've got one to do this week and can't find a pan, looks like I'll have to make my own design, hope it turns out ok *fingers crossed*
Hi Roz - Welcome to Kiwi Cakers it's great to have you here.
I did cut out the My Little Pony cake. I used a picture I printed from the internet to make a template and then I carved the shape from a rectangular cake. I used the offcuts to cut shapes for the face, foreleg and front hind leg and put them on top of the cut pony shape to give it more definition. I also used my ball tool and leaf veiner on the fondant to define the shapes. - Hope this helps, good luck!
