Hi my Florida neighbors!! Sorry I haven't been on lately, been oh so busy, unfortunately not with cakes! Oh well, have to make a living too right! LOL. Anyway, I have found a treasure in Orlando..their website is dandgoccasions.com Oh my if you get the opportunity to go to their store...be prepared to be there for a while. It will take you several trips before you see everything they have! Enjoy and Happy Caking!! =)

Hello, my name is Landi and I live in Central, FL just west of Orlando. I have been baking and decorating cakes for a number of years but only getting serious about it a couple of years ago. I worked as a cake decorator at Super Target and learned a lot from the young woman who trained me. Other than that, I am self taught, book taught, and internet taught. :)

@Maureen, I just went to D and G Occasions! It is my favorite place to get my decorating tools and supplies for my cakes. :)

Hello Everyone,
I wanted to let everyone know that wanted to help get the Cottage Food Act past I think we are making some progress. I sent a ton of emails to all the representatives and I received this email today from one of the Senators. See below.

Subject: FW: Cottage Food Act

Hi Liada,

The issue of “cottage industry” sales such as baked goods to consumers is currently under review by the Food Safety and Food Defense Advisory Council. This council has members from a diverse background such as the DACS, FDA and the private sector. Upon a call phone call from me to the DACS Division of Food Safety I was reminded that there is language in the current Appropriations Act for a review to be made of “small farm” issues, which this matter falls under. The council is to complete its review and issue its findings by the end of the year.

This is to say that this very matter is under review now. I know that the council is aware of Senator Jones constituent’s concern as I sent an e-mail copy of the letter to the Division Director.

If I can be of further assistance on this issue please send me a note or give me a call.

Sincerely,
Jeff

I will still continue to try to help get this bill passed and I hope you will too. I did responded back to Liada thanking her for her help and did mention about our state local government passed a bill to allow bars to stay open 1 hour longer so people could drink alcohol longer but, I couldn't bake a cake at home and sell it to the public because they think I will hurt someone. Doesn't make any sense.

I just wanted to let you know what was going on. Keep your fingers crossed and keep sending those letters.

Have a Sweet Day,
Barbara

ABC Action News Channel 11 in Tampa will be interviewing me this Sunday regarding bathe Cottage Food Act. I hope this news feature will help to get this bill passed this year. I don't know when this will air but, Ellen MacNemera is the news anchor that will be doing the interview Ellen airs on the weekend so it probably will air next weekend. Please send your letters to the state representatives. You can go to the House of Representatives of Florida website and email them with your letter. Thanks for helping if we don't let them know it won't happen.

Thank you to all who are sending letters, we have to work together so we can be just like the other states that allow cakes and pastries to be made in our homes and sell to the public.

ABC Action News Channel 11 in Tampa will be airing the interview regarding the Cottage Food Act. Ellen said it will run on Saturday or Sunday between 6 am - 9 am. She will let me know when and will also be sending a link on their website so for those who do not have this station can view it on the web. I hope this will help us get this bill passed.
