Well I am in I just hope I remember with school starting up my mind tends to trail off. What kind of champagne I know you said pink so strawberry hill is out lol and where would I find grenadine? Thanks

Grenadine can be found in the grocery store, I think. It's a pomagranite mixer.

I don't think you need to get anything expensive when it come to the champagne. Something like Asti Spumanti isn't much I don't think. I am going to get supplies over the weekend so I will see.
Sorry Marta, good luck with the wedding order and hope you can do it next time.

Just pulling the cakes out of the oven and they have fallen in the middle.. I have never had this problem with a cake before.. Instead of champagne I used club soda. Does anyone know if this is where I went wrong? Stumped on this one.. Followed the reciped to a "t" and baked at 300*. Thanks

Debbie, that normally happens when I'm doing substitutions and end up with too much sugar in the batter. i.e. - changing water to mixers or concentrated juices.

Thanks Deah, this was really bothering me.. Do we have to use this recipe or can I use another one? First cake club so what to do it right.. And for future reference can we use cake dummies to make our cakes?
Comment by Gretchen Belsome on August 2, 2010 at 10:48am
I am so sorry that it didn't work.... I haven't made mine yet. I got everything yesterday day at the store. The only thing with cake dummies, if we are trying a receipe then that wouldn't work. But if we are only doing a technique then I don't see why it would be a big deal.

Thanks Gretchen. Off to make another cake...

Hey, Debbie, what size pans were you using in your first attempt? Is it possible the cake wasn't fully cooked in the center?
