Melissa, really wherabouts? .. crumbcoating .. does that only refer to buttercream? how about when ganaching?

I was at Olympic Park, not far from the stadium. Yes I suppose you could do that with ganache as well. It will stop the crumbs showing in your final covering and have a neat finish.

Oh yeah, we lived at Liberty Grove for 8yrs and just recently moved to Concord (yes, just a suburb away hehe) last yr. Where are you, still in Syd? .. yeah I've decided that i should crumb coat to get the neat finish, as you say. I'm gonna start with the cake i'm doing for my son's baptism this wknd. My 2nd attempt at a wonky cake. I'm dreading it since my 1st attempt was TERRIBLE!!!

Yes I am just past Campbelltown. I worked out there for almost 7 years. Seen it change quite a bit as well.
I am sure that your cake is going to turn out lovely. What are your plans for the cake?

im dreading doing the cake so ive only baked 2 small tiers hehe. i'm colour matching the invitation so stripes on the bottom and choc fondant on top. im going to use my imprint mat that i bought last month and still havent used hahaha. ive only got 3"high cakes so im wondering if thats enough height to do wonky cake?? or would i need to bake another layer??

I am guessing that you are talking about a Topsy Turvey cake when you say wonky cake - where the cakes are cut on an angle and sit on top of each other? I havent actually done one of them before so I cant really answer your question. 3" to me sounds fine but like I said, I havent made one before to be completely sure. You are best to put your question on either the chat or in the Forums. People on here are so helpful and they will be able to answer that question for you. The cake you are making sounds lovely. Im looking forward to seeing a pic of it.

It will turn out lovely I just know it. Hopefully the weather will clear up in time for his baptism. The rain wasnt too bad for us here today, but I did hear that other places got bucket loads.
