Hello,My name is Vince and I just recently found this group here on cakes we bake and I just wanted to say hello. I grew up watching my mom decorate cakes when I was young and was always facinated by…Continue
It was frustrating at first, but now it's just sad when I hear things like "I can get it for $50 from so and so", the cake is a two tiered creation with hand modled figurines and accents, and what not. Really? Who in their right mind would do that? So sad.
I agree with you. I don't have a problem letting those people go where ever they need to go. I hate when people try to get me to lower my price too. Um no... I am going to have to stay up all night to get this done for you because you waited til the last minute, I shouldn't have said yes just based on that and you want a lower price. I don't think so! I love the cake shows too but sometimes they don't help. People want a gigantic, detailed cake for $50.
Where are you ?
Yay Barb!
What do you think clients will thing or say or will they care?
I am on facebook here
Well I will have a kitchen I can still use but will do more at home. Back when I first started I rented a kitchen by the day, I only went in once a week. I did all my baking there and all my decorating at home. I never had anyone come to my home though I always delivered or had them pick up at a nearby starbucks. At that time what I was doing was okayed (sp) by the health dept and the guy I rented from made sure it was ok. I was not required to have a health inspection in my name as I rented from a licensed kitchen that already had one. In recent years they have decided that everyone has to have a health inspection even if there are 7 people (businesses) using one kitchen. It's nuts, they found a big way to make some money. It's almost $700 for that inspection too now because last Sept they doubled the price.
So its going to save me that money for sure! AND it will save me rent because I am going back to renting when I need it. I have a feeling that more of these businesses that popped up and then thought they would make extra by renting to people will come down on what they charge for rent too. If they don't then no one will use their space ya know.
I agree, just a way to make money. and In Sept they decided they wouldn't come and do an inspection at all until you went downtown and paid $315. Then they do the inspection and you pay the $310 bill when that comes. So it doubled it. I don't know how they have do that without a law ya know? They just did it all by themselves. Maybe that helped this bill pass.
Hi Everyone,
