Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Hey everyone!

So yesterday i had a cake which was bought from Sobeys (grocery store here in Toronto).  And the chocolate icing was sooo good, and creamy.  I'm just wondering do grocery stores use buttercream icing or another version of whipped icing?? And if so, why the heck does my BC icing never turn out that creamy and nice??

And you're still aable to pipe nicely with it.

Any thoughts???

THANkS!! :)

Grocery stores get their icing out of a can and god only knows what's in it. Creaminess comes from whipping the icing a long time to aerate it, but that also produces a lot of air bubbles to deal with when frosting. With patience, you can smooth out icing with air bubbles, but you'll be spending a lot more time doing it.
Ahh...well i dont have time to smooth out air bubbles!! :) I thought someone might have their icing receipe here...but you're right, icing from a CAN sounds dodgy!! :) hehe...

Thanks Theresa!!
