Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Hi Everyone.

I was wondering what commercial fondant everyone likes better.  I have only used Marshmallow fondant that I make myself but if there is one that tastes just as good I would like to try it.  I've heard FondX is really good.  What are your opinions?  Thanks for the help!

Well Lorie
When I don't make my own...I use Satin Ice, occasionally FondX if I can find on sale. Fortunately for me, I am near 2 very large decorating warehouses. I am able to purchase there own brand. I buy a large tub, split it up and freeze it in portions.

I'm in the UK Lorie, so a lot of this may not be relevant to you.  I always use store bought fondant as I just can't be bothered to make my own.  I actually really like Tesco own brand - it's really fudgy and is nice to work with.  When I need something more specialised (ie a particular colour that is hard to achieve by colouring white fondant), I use Renshaw Professional.  It's more expensive, but they have a wonderful range of colours.

Dr. Oetker ready to roll is pretty good too.

Positive Lorie can't get Tesco...cause Katy, think that's a store brand limited to UK. Lucky you tho Katy, your grocery store carries it. Not so here. Think ditto for are Renshaw brand....also unique to the UK....but did not know Dr. Oekker actually made fondant...huh...
Nope..... At least not here in Canada. There is a grocery store here, Metro, and there carrying some brand I sampled at the Canada Sweets show. Tasted dreadful.....wouldn't buy even if I was desperate. Googled, and the brands you mentioned are not available in USA or Canada....

I envy all of you because you have so many choices of brands for ready-made fondant. Here in the Philippines you need to go to Manila to buy those but only few choices. So now that I learn how to make fondant I just do it from scratch and it is a fondant that you can eat because it tastes good though it's really difficult to do it unlike just buying it.

Thank you for that information.
