Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Hi guys:

I made and delivered a wedding cake last weekend that I was not totally happy with...still can't get over it. Is it ok to make a congratulatory wedding cake for the couple? The cake I did was 2 tiers...I would just create a single tier...using the same idea for the wedding cake...maybe with congratulations Roxanne and Omar on the cake board. What do you think?

Thanks,

Teneisha...

Did the bride or groom say anything about not liking it?
No comments just yet...they are busy honeymooning...

I would just wait and see if they say anything Im sure it was a great cake do you have any pictures?
It think it is...but it's just me..I'm so critical of myself...and i know it had technical issues...you know...like the fondant not being as smooth as it should have been...it's posted...the one with the calla lillies...

It may be the bride that's freaking me out...she wanted everything to be perfect...and believe me...her reception hall was beautiful...she lloked beautiful...everything for her wedding was in place...on time...she was at least an hour early for the wedding!!!!

You really shouldn't worry about it!! I saw your pictures and ALL your cakes are AMAZING!! If they asked you to make the cake for the most important day of thier lives it was for a reason! :0)
I know...but I just have this feeling you know...I'm just a worry head...i hate this about me sometimes...wanting everything to be perfect and if it is not I just worry about it...my job has helped to create this...I work with a Registrar/Certification Body...everything is by procedures and they must be this way...and if u r changing the way things are done then the procedures must be changed...and it has taken over...it's good for the most part...but it can be bad...

Ok Chrystal :)...lol....

One of the reason why I love this site is that I have cake decorators helping me out...giving advice and helping me with my confidence issues...why should I be doubting myself when all you guys are telling me that the cake looks beautiful...I believe it looks beautiful too but concerned about the bride because of the tcehnical issues that aren't seen in the pic...lol...I should just get over it right...it's eating at me though...it's all I think about...I guess I just need closure...so i'll hang int there till I hear from the bride...:)

Thanks again...:)

Tenisha... as a cake decorator, you will see more than the untrained eye will ever see. I am sure that she really did not have time to go over her cake and critique it. If she says something then maybe offer but don't bring up something that might not even be there. I am always critical of my work because I know where the flaws are but most people never see them. Hang in there the cake is lovely!
Ok Jeri...:)...I'm hanging in there...:)

Thanks...
