Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I have a customer that wants a cake for 100 people, it's for a 1 year birthday of a Curves being open in our area. She wants 2 cakes with Strawberries, kiwi & blueberries on top, but shes not sure what type of cake &/or filling, & I really dont know what type of cake flavor or filling would go with those fruits. Any help greatly aprrectiated.

I would suggest either vanilla or lemon cake and buttercream...it wont take away from the flavor of the fruit.
I agree with Karen for the cake flavors.
The icing buttercream is great but perhaps a cream cheese icing might be better because it is Curves. You don't have to use a lot of sugar in the cream cheese (I usually add less sugar until my consistency is where I want it and the taste is not so sweet.) I've never tried low fat cream cheese only regular with all that great taste.

Filling small amount of cream cheese icing with a layer of strawberries, kiwi and blueberries (all fresh fruits I assume).

Good luck! I guess the Curves wants to make sure everyone still keeps their contracts to come in and exercise for another year, LOL. Sorry, I find it pretty funny and a really good business strategy.
Lemon cake is wonderful with raspberry or blueberry. I would think that kiwi has too much water content to put in cake but never have tried it. The vanilla cake is good too...I have a recipe for a pink champagne cake in my blog that goes well with berries too and it is kind of a celebration cake using the pink champagne. It is a really yummy cake.
I agree with all of the above. Lemon (as long as its more of a subtle lemon), Vanilla or Jeri's Pink Champagne cake (which can I say, is delicious based on the one that I've made!) would work great. I've also don almond cakes with berries and fruits, and my customers ADORED the almond and fruit combo. The only concern would then be nut allergies.

If you're doing a tiered cake - you can do all three if your time (and patience) allows! Let us know what you decide!
Vanilla cake would compliment the differant fruits. I am not sure about the filling. A chocolate ganache would work for the strawberries and the blueberries, Not sure what would work with the kiwi. Pleas let me know what you choose to do.

Jennifer I ,also want to thank you for commenting on the sm wedding cake I posted.
Thank you ladies for the suggestions. That is what I love about this site, everyone is soo willing to help. I will see what the customer chooses. They only want the fresh fruit on top no in the fillind. Stampinsher, I know right, seems odd to do a cake for curves. lol
