I just found a hi ratio shortening made by Wesson.  The cost is half of Sweetex.  Has anyone heard of it or used it?

Where did you find it?
Oh thanks for the info. Seeing as I can't find it at all around here & just stopped looking for it I'm glad to hear this.
There's a store here called Chefsmart. It's a store owned by IFH (restaurant distributor). You see there trucks on the highway I'm sure. $48.66 for 50 lbs. Maybe someone around you carries it.

Also, I just found an online source for Sweetex & Alpine. Stover & Company. They are in PA. Had them quote the shipping for Sweetex to me in North Carolina. $56.28 for the Sweetex and $22 shipping. That's much cheaper than anywhere else I've see it. Most places are $80 and up plus shipping. I haven't been able to locate any reviews on the company - good or bad. Maybe someone else has some experience with them.

What exactly is high-ratio shortening and what do you use it for?
Anita, take a look at this discussion - http://www.cakeswebake.com/forum/topics/hi-ratio-shortening?id=4635...

I have heard people who have used it like it. I also hear Bakemark makes a Hi ratio too. I haven't used it personally but I can get Sweetex locally.
