Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I don't know how many of you know about this scam, but apparently it keeps on going.  A guy calls and orders a wedding cake - always uses the same picture (see below).   I've been following a group on Facebook that is tracking this scam and they say they are getting info from all over the country.  The article goes into more detail on how he operates.  Just thought I should share this with all of you!!

This is helpful for shop owners definately...don't think he will call me!
This scam has been around forever. I'm sorry, but I don't feel too bad for them. If you step back and think about it... anyone who is asking you to overchare a credit card to pay to ship a cake through a third party your "I'm getting effed over" radar should be slapping you upside the head.

I feel for them losing money, but this was completely avoidable.

I get this scam email once every couple of months.
I've received another version of this scam at work. Someone calls in using the hearing impaired communication service (disgraceful) and wants us to use his credit card to pay for boat repairs but also wants us to wire money to the towing company to pay for transportation to our facility. I was determined to stop one of these scammers and spent a half hour on the phone getting every bit of information I could extract. I then called our credit card processing service and determined the issuing bank of the credit card, called that bank and reported it. They had no idea until I called.
