Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Hi Everyone,

We are kicking around the idea of shooting an instructional video and are looking for topics on what decorators would like to see.  We will be doing in English and Spanish and would be 30-45 minutes long and would be for sale locally and nationally..  We are thinking about how to do a simple expertly frosted birthday style cake for the average housewife, using commonly found supermarket items.  Another thought was how to create a simple 2 tier (stacking and doweling).  Another one was to do a video on how to create a topsy turvey.  Our main goal is to make it "approachable" for all, something everyone of all skill levels can achieve realisticly and have fun with, although the topsy turvey would be advanced.

Let us know your thoughts...

I haven't come across a single video that demonstrates overpiping techniques.
I would love to see a video on this!!
Would love to see a video on gelatin flowers/butterflies. I'm pretty much self taught on gumpaste & fondant flowers (other than one class on fondant roses) and I would love to add the gelatin butterflies/flowers to my craft.
I would like to see free video on creating fondant/gumpaste people BODIES. There are many videos on creating faces/heads, but not on how to create the bodies. At least I haven't seen a free one.
I would love to see a video on piping techniques.
I would appreciate any videos that not only show the technique, but go into detail on things like fondant consistency, buttercream consistency (how thin is too thin to do stenciling on fondant, for example), and the proper tools to use. Also, if you mention a tool, maybe mention an alternative if someone hasn't invested a lot of $$ in equipment (I used nothing but wooden toothpicks and skewers for detailing my flowers and leaves before buying the gumpaste tool kit). :)

Can't wait to see what you produce! Your cakes are fantastic.
also would love to see how decorators get that sharp edge on the icing from topside to the side of the cake. thanks
I would really love to see a video on the consistencies of the different decorations, be it cake covering, or flowers. It's a wonderful idea!
I would love to see a good tutorial on the topsy turvey cakes that goes into details. I've been researching that one on the internet lately. Also some tutorials on consistancies with different cakes and icings and one on piping I think is a great ideal.
I would love to see a piping techniques video too.
