I do not recognize LG, but will check it out.

Thanks!  I'll do it.  As bad as I hate to think about it, the washer and dryer will have to be replaced someday :o)

I have a front loader...uses so little water and soap. Love it
they all used to be good , lol , now they make them so you have to up date , think about it , like car's ! they make them so you cant fix them yourself anymore , I remember working on cars with my x , rebuilding carb's , , any more its crazy to even try !

I'm glad to hear that, June, because you are the only person I know who likes their front loader.  The ones they still make that load from the top will not allow you to wash anything like a blanket because of the new designed agitator...or so I have been told by the sales people.

Yes, Gali, now when something goes wrong with the car it is usually one of it's many computers - almost impossible to pin point and costly to repair.  Don't get me wrong, I do not want to go back to horses and buggies, but my '56 Chevy (my first car, a hand-me-down from my Mama) was cool :o)

right , ,, I had my first car 62 rambler ! I ran that 4every , till my x and my twin took it out in the snow ! they blow it , trying to get it out of a snow drift !

I see you ladies are discussing appliances. I, too, have an LG front loading washing machine & love it. So does my little 3 yr old grandson. He likes to put a chair in front of it & sit there & watch it spin. Enjoys watching it spin as much as he likes watching tv...lol. Speaking of mixers too, I had a Sunbeam Mixmaster that lasted 20+ years. It actually still works. The only thing wrong w/it is the control settings knob on the end is falling off & you have to hold it in place in order for it to work. My daughter has it now .B/c it served me so well I bought another one 3 years ago to make my daughter's baby shower cake. Unfortunately it died w/the groom's cake I made last week. Fortunately it hung in there just long enough for me to finish it. So, I'm temporarily out of business until I can afford to get a new one.

I am really glad to have your and June's endorsement of the LG front load washer and dryer because I have really worried about what I will use to replace my antique Maytags :o)  Thanks!  That is so funny about your grandson loving to "watch" the washer.  You should take pictures lol !  Sorry about your mixer, Denise.  Don't you just hate appliances?  At least you were able to finish the cakes you were working on.

Glad I could help. Bought mine back in 2008 or 9 & had a difficult time deciding too. Believe it or not, I was also replacing a Maytag that had only lasted 3-4 yrs. Someone I knew who worked @ Best Buy told me I would hate it & regret buying it. They said they got lots of complaints about their clothes having a weird mildewy smell. If you're willing to put a little effort into maintaining it you can avoid that problem. I always leave the door open after washing that way it dries out/airs out. There are also special cleaning tablets for front load washers. Tide makes one. If you find those too pricey you can always run it through the tub clean cycle w/just some bleach about once a month. I also spray some Clorox Cleanup around the front gasket, let it sit a few minutes, then wipe it down. That takes care of any buildup on the gasket.

I also leave my washer door open. Also prevents mold from growing on the inside rubber gasket on the door. I do have a tiny bit of mold discolouration because unfortunately there were no instructions in the manual about leaving the door open.

I don't have a front load ! but my daughter duz , she said spray the gaskets with white vinegar also ! ?and once a mo , use a vinegar wash cycle in  the washer ?
