Topsy Turvy cake
I have a request for a topsy turvy cake but they only want one tier. I have looked all over online but it seems like the topsy turvy cakes are always made with at least two tiers. Does anyone know if it's possible to make one with a single tier or will it look dumb??

A topsy turvy cake was originally called a mad hatter cake because the tiers were shaped like the mad hatter's hat...narrower on the bottom and wider at the top so maybe keep that in mind when you carve the cake.

Absolutely, Sharon's Topsy-Turvy DVD is fantastic!! Even my first TT was beautiful and so stable, thanks to Sharon -- it looked like I had been making them for years. A must have!

You could still have the tier at an angle. However, topsy turvey cakes are supposed to look like they are defeying gravity. I don't know how it would look with one tier.

Sharon's method is great. I have watched the DVD several times now and love her method. And she bakes all of her TT cakes 3 two inch cakes deep. You get a better angle that way.

I think it would look fine just be sure to slant the sides so the cake is smaller at the bottom than at the top and it should look cute. These days nothing looks dumb haha it is a pretty much do what you want market. Hope it turns out good for you
