Like June, I keep my purple gum paste and fondant purple by adding a small amount of Baking Soda. I still have the flowers from my Red Hat cake, about four months now, and they have not faded or changed color.

It doesn't take much, Gali. I added maybe a scant 1/4 teaspoon to a ball of gum paste a little larger than a golf ball.
cool thank you , !, I hope I remember lol , been to buzzy doing the veggies from the garden ! cant wait to do another cake ,
Thanks, Gali, for the post. As I said, though, the dark purple and light purple gum paste I've made using a bit of baking soda have remained the same with no fading. The have not been exposed to sun, but they are exposed to the house lights daily. Maybe I am lucky ;o)
well I will try it ! thanks Sandra ; x
