Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Okay friends, I just got an order for tiered bundt cakes. What do we know about them? Any one done one? Any helpful hints?

When I first read this I thought it said tired bunts.... was curious what a tired bundt was... :-) :-)

As for Tiered bundts... not sure how that would work... are you looking at stacked or tiered on a stand with seperators? I have one of those floating stands (I have only used it once) but you could probably make it work... this is the one I have.. http://cakesbysam.com/store/cart.php?target=product&product_id=... I bought it for a bride that needed to take her cake 600 miles and had to set it up herself.... I have never used it again! But it would work for bundt cakes.
A tired bunt is when you have been making gum paste roses for about 8 hours!!!
Yes, I love that cake stand!
But this Bride saw actual stacked bundts in a magazine and of course does not have the pic to show me. My on-line research shows them stacked with boards between them. I know it has to have a trick, and I need to know what it is!
Wish I was close enough to you Jeri to borrow that cake stand sometime!

I found this one and I would think it would be as simple as doing it the same way you would do a regular tiered cake. Make sure you have dowels in the bottom cake, then put the next tier on a board cut about a half inch smaller than the diameter of the cake (so it doesn't show) and have it actually resting on the dowels and NOT the cake below. You could also put some kind of cylindrical support in the middle of the bundt cake since you won't see it anyway with the cakes on top. It actually looks like a really cool, easy design to do!! I'd make one of these in a heartbeat! :)
yes, I was also thinking middle support. Great minds you know Eileen! Thanks a bunch!
That is a beautiful cake Eileen....I am definately going to find a reason to make one. I am wondering if I can make it look like a Christmas tree....mmmmmm.

I was thinking to have a middle support through the hole in the cake. How many tiers do you have to do. I think it sounds like it could be an easy cake. Does she want it iced in any way? I mean you could just stack them and put powdered sugar sprikled on them and that is it, a few flowers here and there. I think the christmas tree idea is cool too. I may have to try this too. I so want to see pictures and what you do when you are done.
My question is - where do you get different sizes of bundt pans? I've only ever seen the 12 cup ones. A brief search turned up a 6 cup pan, but that's it. Any ideas? I'm actually loving this idea.
Yes Gretchen, I too am hoping it is an easy cake!
I have ordered two cake pans in the 12 AND 6 CUP Then I think I can use a small one from Wilton for the top. I hope the bundt designs match. I am hoping to do a very easy almost glaze for the icing, but am also hoping the bride turns up with the pic.
Thanks so much guys for your comments. Keep em coming!.
