Sugar Vail
Hi~ has anyone worked much with SugarVail? I have only played around with it once, I have been meaning to get it out and start again. Any good tips?

I'd like to know too. I tried it twice. I should've waited until I had longer to read up on it and mess with it. Both times, it got crispy(I've since found out that I allowed it to set up too long and that it could've been revived...too late, I tossed that project).

oh yeah, i did hear that the set up time is important. mine was't cripsy, it was just not quite as easy to work with as i thought it would be. But, i only gave it one try, so i should really play with it again. :)

I didn't buy the kit, just 1lb of the sugarveil. I used some stencils I had and those turned out beautiful . I did the combing/two color effect on a large sheet of parchment. I peeped underneath, it was turning out okay for a first attempt at striping. I did two things wrong which caused it all to be too fragile to handle. I failed to grease my parchment and I let it set up too long. I was told I could've stuck it in the freezer for a bit and brought it back out and it would've become pliable again for a bit. oh well...if I get to mess with it again, I'll be sure to post photos.

I'll be looking for it! I want to try the fishnet(I reckon that's what it's called) technique. Where you pipe lines, then pipe dots inbetween and alternate the placement of the dots so that one row of dots is say at 1 inch and continues at 1 inch increments and the next row of dots starts at 1/2 inch and continues at 1 inch increments. Geez, it's been forever since I looked at it, I do believe that's how they did it. Then, when it's set up (JUST ENOUGH...NOT CRISPY...lol), pick the entire piece of and give it a slight pull on the sides and it should open up like a fishnet...looked great on the ocean themed cake I recall it being on.
