Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Help! Well not really .. BUT, having some in-put on this .. would be great ..

Any-Hoo, I made this recipe that called for 2 cups of root-beer .. Evening the Butter-Cream frosting .. I did both recipes right down to the last letter .. And neither one tasted like it even had one drop of R-B in it .. All's I got was great chocolate cupcakes .. Super moist ..

Thanks Eva.....

Did you try using Root Beer  extract?  I have found that helps when making RB cupcakes.  Also, no generic RB; use only Barqs or Mug RB.  I haven't made one in a while so I will look for my recipe and if you are interested I can forward on.

I did not use the R-B extract .. and yes I used Barqs .. I was so up-set because the cakes smelled like Root-beer hot .. but after the cool down it was just plain old chocolate cakes ..
Wow! I have been in the bakery business (retired now) and never heard of root beer cupcakes. Must give those a try. We both love root beer. Tried the coca-cola ones they didn't taste like coca-cola either. Just very moist chocolate cake. Love to experiment!
That they were very moist .. I too enjoy playing around with different idea's of flavors .. I'll keep plugin away on this Root-Beer recipe .. maybe someday I'll have Root-Beer cakes .. heheee....
I use lorann oils when i need a little more intense of a flavor.  I know they have a rootbeer one because I use it for my rootbeer float cupcakes.  You can purchase it online & it is pretty cheap.  Remember only use about 1/2 tsp for a whole batch of batter.  This stuff is intense =-)
Thank you for your nice reply .. I know a store that has these oils .. I hope they will have the R-B so I can try this again ..
I got some R-B extract yesterday .. so, today i'm making the cakes again .. Rebecca a gal here on CC wrote stating to use this Lorann R-B oil .. I'm going to try that also .. Boy, if I didn't have R-B cakes before I will now .. Thanks to all of you for your help ....
