Rice Krispie recipe - do you use it for sculpting?

I have heard that some use a rice krispie blend for shape-sculpting - is this the standard recipe that we use for rice krispie treats?  Anyone use this technique and is it better than using all gumpaste, etc.?

Thanks in advance!

I have used the rice krispy treats for sculpting and it does work.  If you put the rice krispies into the blender and break them up a little first they are not as lumpy.  And modeling chocolate covers them better than fondant.  I just use the standard recipe for them.

Iuse the recipe on the box and just play with my r.k. content until I like the stiffness. I normally use 3tblsp butter, 10oz marsh mellows, and about 7 cups of RKs. If u look in the forums you will see some tricks of coating your sculpture with chocolate for stability.

**I use the new Kraft "flat" MMs tonite. Best batch I ever made!!

Simply RKT recipe, you can find it on the box too. Same as the one you buy ready in blocks. If I make a big figurine it is not so heavy if I make the core and/or head out of RKT. Also if I make a sculpted cake and it has arms and legs, those are made of RKT. If you have odd shapes, like a big elephant trunk, or a cake standing on feet and the structure needs to be covered RKT is a must. Gumpaste would be too heavy, not to mention more expensive too. You can cover it with modeling chocolate, or fondant. Some smooth it out by sanding it first, some put a layer of royal on it. Hope this helps.
Thank you so much - this is a huge help!!!   So glad to be a part of this group!  Have a wonderful day!
