The Wilton yearbooks are a good start for a biginner.
There are so many new books out these days I haven't kept up.
What are your likes as to decorating? Fondant? Buttercream? Do you want to figure pipe? Learn to make gumpaste flowers? That will make a bit of a difference. You don't want to start with something like Kerry Vincent's Romantic cakes - it would probably frustrate you beyone wanting to ever decorate again :)
Professional Cake Decorating by Toba Garrett is one of my favorites. It covers all the basics and it's written like a text book with end of lesson reviews after each chapter. It has helped me immensely.Yes, I have one of her books- The well decorated cake....... Thanx Kathy I will see wether I can find her other book.
