Ladies...

I have black fondant placed already on my cake and i accidentally put some pearl dust on it....how do I get rid of it without attempting to remove the whole piece?? Would water work??

Thanks!!!

Dust doesn't dissolve in water...you have to use an alcohol based liquid like vodka or clear extract....rub carefully and dont use too much liquid or you will soften the fondant. Use a soft cloth or very soft paper towel....you might also try putting some on your finger and rub off.
I have never had luck getting it off once it's on... black is tough! Really important to be sure the dust is all cleaned up before getting the black fondant out. Let us know how it goes!
Thanks so much for the suggestions....

I first tried it with water, a little side, and it worked! So i continued on the whole thing...i was being risky!!! LOL...but next time i will defiantely clean up before working with black!

And Karen is vodka good to act as glue as well??
you can use vodka, water, gum glue or royal icing,,,my preference is gum glue...I fill 1-2 oz jar with hot water then add about 1/4 tsp of tylose powder and shake until it is dissolved.....
