Cool! Welcome, Tessa!

Hi, I am Clare from Belfast Northern Ireland

I joined about a month ago! I baked my first cake just over a year ago as a dare from my other half and it went from there - I loved baking and decorating.  I started making them for family and friends and the word spread

I now bake cakes almost every evening after work for people and hope over the next year or 2, if the orders keep up to open a little cake premises

Welcome Claire

Welcome to our friendly site, Clare!

HI! Just joined today.  Think this community looks fun and personable and full of great ideas.  I am such a newbie.  I have been trying to get a home business started.  I've had a few starts and stops because I have MS.  But, determined to jump over the hurdles.  I had a question earlier today on cupcake liners crimping and not laying right in the pan.  Hoping someone can enlighten me.

Glad to be a part of you talented bakers.

Kayla Woody

Claire,  Sounds like you will have a great business going very soon.  Did you do any advertising except word of mouth.  Kayla

About the cupcake liners. When It doesn't matter about presentation, like making cupcakes for my family, I use the cheapie liners from the dollar store. But for a customer, I buy a better quality liner, like Reynolds, or Betty Crocker.  The paper is thicker & stiffer, and they won't crumple when placed in your muffin/cupcake tin.

Thanks June.  Appreciate you replying back.  O.K.  the last ones I just used were from Hobby Lobby very popular extremely nice major craft store in Texas  were Wilton but they crumpled.  But I found red and green Reynolds this morning that I will use for Christmas.

One more question if you don't mind.  Is there anyway to keep the liners from fading I guess from the oil.  Of course the brighter the better.  But there again, Wilton Thanksgiving liners faded, and you really couldn't tell what the pattern was.  Aggravating.
