Hi , My name is Alifia. I joined the site couple of weeks ago. This website is so amazing and awesome! I have been baking since years & last year decided to take it to next level. I completed Wilton Cake Decorating Courses and started decorating cakes & I love it. It has grown a little, and I now make cakes for family, friends and their friends. I am here to share ideas, learn from other cake decorators and bakers.  Hope to learn some new techniques here.  Thanks to everyone for sharing their talent.

Hey there Christie, welcome, I am a recently new person too and have found this forum a fountain of knowledge.  I haven't had the chance for some one on one communication as yet, but find myself totally inspired by the work of the ladies and gentlemen here.  Congratulations on your own bakery. My dream is to create wonderful cakes and own a shop one day.  Cheers from QLD Australia  :)

Hi my name is Annie Whitton i have only been cake decorating for not even  a year yet but am really loving it . i have a passion for cooking i love it the kitchen is my domain .  my dream is to open a little cafe or bed and  breakfast in the country .

hi Helen you may be able to help me i am getting very stressed about this and i know it is a dumb question how do i get more height in my cakes.

Annie

Do you mean height as in "baking" the cake or height as in stacking the cake????

stacking the cake

can you help me

Ok

Another question??

Stacking the cake for stability??/ And proper height?  The height depends on what you are trying to achive.

For example, if you are making a 3 tier wedding/celebration cake, the tiers can be 14"/10"/8" or 6"

Or it could be 16"/12"/8".  What you you making???

I am Marla DeJohn from Greeley,  Colorado. I have probably been baking cakes for family for 20 years, but have in the past two years begun baking for friends and friends of friends. Getting busier and busier all the time- just wish this could be the only work I have to do!

I used to bake out of my kitchen, but in Greeley that is not allowed if you are selling- so I found a friend in a nearby tiny town who allows me to use the kitchen in his restaurant.

Kids cakes are the most fun to me- but wedding cakes seem to be more popular! I try to make things interesting and beautiful- but tasty is the most important part to me!

Welcome Annie and Marla!
