Welcome Patricia
Do mean gumpaste, as in gumpaste decorations? You don't normally cover a whole cake in gumpaste, but in either fondant or buttercream. You can add a very small amount of tylose to your fondant for stability. It really depends on if your cake will be sitting outside, or in a air conditioned hall. I very rarely buy gumpaste, I usually make it. Nicholas Lodge's recipe. In a pinch I bought Satin Ice's gumpaste, and it was quite good. But it's expensive, so I prefer to make my own.
Hi Im Sue from Co Durham England new to cake making want to make my own wedding cake in about 3 yrs want a castle to fit in with our medeival theam not sure how to do the turets a friend said rice crisp n mashmallow has anyone heard or this b4 pls

Welcome Susan - I'm in Harrow, Middlesex.  Nice to have another Brit in our group.  Your friend is talking about rice krispie treats.  You (basically) mix rice krispies with melted marshmallow and shape it.  Then crumb coat with either ganache or butter icing as you would a cake, then cover in fondant.  Or, if you don't want your turrets to be edible you can use empty kitchen roll tubes, or if you want pointy turrets, you can use ice cream cones.  Google castle cakes, there's loads out there!

Welcome Susan to CWB Susan McGreevyCajes has a great tutorial. I'll post here and hope it will copy.

Thank you June,  the cake will be sitting outside so how much tylose should I put in the fondant? I will have to buy the gum paste, so I know it would be good.. I am afraid to make it and it do not work ..

I wouldn't add more than a 1/4 tsp of tylose in about a pound of fondant. Any more and the fondant will get hard and crack. Here's a site with good tips.
