Need ideas on how to make a "Wii" cake!!! Can you please share your ideas? Thanks a bunch!

I've been making cakes for about a couple years but I am not a professional cake decorator. I basically self-taught myself with cake decorating catalogues I've purchased and having watched my aunt make and bake cakes growing up. Anyhow, my nephew has asked me to make his "Wii" birthday cake for his 7th birthday for this coming Sunday. I don't want to let him down or disappoint him so I told him I'd try my best ... and so here I am asking you fellow cake decorating enthusiasts on tips and ideas. I have done search engines on Wii cakes ... and there are a few I have come across; however, I am looking for tips, ideas, tricks, etc.

I made a "VLT machine - Larry Lostermania" cake but upon completion of the cake, the dowel rods were showing because the cake was slowly slipping because of the icing in between. Should have I done something else? I wouldn't want the cake to tilt again for the Wii cake! Help!

She just did a sheet cake, covered it with fondant, then painted the details on.
