Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Ok fellow cake people, I'm sure there is a discussion somewhere on this topic just couldnt find it. But I'm going to make my duaghter cub penguin character out of krispy treat and cover them in fondant for her bday cake (may 22nd). I wanted to start making them this week but how long can they last? How can I store them?

I have done mine weeks before... but I kept them without the covering.

When I make RKT I make more and shape it in logs that I keep on the refrigerator on a plastic bag.  Then if I need to shape it in a different way I just get them on the microwave for seconds 5-10 (depending on the size) and reshape them... that has worked for me.

I posted a picture today of a cake I made and the top part was RKT that I made weeks ago and reshaped with the microwave trick.

Hope that helps.

They will last for a couple of weeks, especially if you cover them and seal them up well.

Thanks Karen, that's what I needed to know!
