Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Well it's summer in the southern hemisphere and for those of is without airconditioning it is a pain in the butt. I did have aircon briefly last year until it packed it in......sigh. Humidity can get up to 90%+ some days and as I work in fondant, it plays havoc with schedules, designs and my sanity levels. There are ways to manage but with this in mind that I penned this ode. (sung to the tune of The Beatles Yesterday - please forgive me Paul).

Humidity,

you make my cakes sweat and I curseth thee.

There is icing stuck all over me.

Oh, how I hate humidity.

Suddenly,

The icing sags and colours bleed badly,

Petals droop and figures twist weirdly,

I really hate humidity.
Why we

Carry on I don’t know, it’s beyond me.

It sticks

Something’s wrong, and you know its humidity.

Yesterday,

I made flowers and I had to pray,

That they wouldn’t wilt and melt away

Desiccant is here to stay.

Why we

Carry on I don’t know, it’s beyond me.

It sticks

And then it runs and you know humidity.

Humidity,

you make my cakes sweat and I curseth thee.

There is icing stuck all over me.

Oh, how I hate humidity.

Mmmmmmmmmm……
