I am looking for a hand mixer with a slow start speed.  I have bought 3 different brands and have taken then back to the store because they were too fast and batter went every where. Please tell me the name of one with a slow start speed .  Thanks

If you are talking about counter top mixers, the Kitchen Aid Artisan one comes with a (what I call) a splatter shield. Its wonderful for keeping down any mess. I add all my flour through the spout and it saves so much clean up....if it does not come with a splatter shield you can drape a towel over it .
Thank you Sharon for your reply to me.

I am looking for a hand mixer that has a slow mix start speed. The three I have tried start off fast and I could not tell much difference in the first and second speed.

Maybe I have the wrong Idea of what the speeds are suppose to be.

Does your mixer start off slow on the first speed?
Trisha,
I have a hand mixer but I prefer my Kitchen Aid for all my cakes and icing fun. I know I will never go back to a hand mixer for this type of caking fun. I'm sorry, but I can't imagine the use of a hand mixer (the way I did it before) since I purchased my Kitchen Aid. I'm sure you have your reasons for using a mixer but if there is any way to upgrade your appliance please think about the Kitchen Aid.
Sincerely,
Sher
Sorry Trisha, for some silly reason when I read the title to this discussion I was not really reading it. Hope you find a solution to your hand mixer problem.

Trisha, what brands have you tried? I have a Kitchen Aid Hand Mixer which has 6 speeds. The lowest speed starts slow enough to mix my dry ingredients without creating a cloud.
Thank you Deah for your reply to me.

I have not tried a Kitchen Aid yet but most people have said to try the Kitchen Aid mixer. So I will try one . thanks
