I was wondering if anyone could tell me what do you use to make fondant shimmery, like when people make the little pearls, or little gold and silver balls. I figure it's some kind of shimmer dust, or glaze, but I can't find anything remotely close where I live.

I use an airbrush with pearl spray or silver/gold metallic spray most of the time (I have to order the edible airbrush color online).  It especially makes it easy to get that finish on the fondant for the whole cake.  Before I had an airbrush I bought spray cans of the pearl, gold and silver also.  I have to order the pearl spray (PMS pearl luster spray), but Michaels carries Duff Goldman's silver and gold spray.  Pearl dust (or super pearl dust) or silver or gold luster dust also does the trick.  You can dust on with a dry fluffy paintbrush or you can mix them with clear vodka or lemon juice to make a paint to brush on the cake.  I also have to order the luster dusts - because they aren't available in my area either.  Hobby Lobby, JoAnn's, and Michaels carries pearl color, silver pearl and gold pearl dust that works okay also -it just isn't quite as intense.  There are so many places to order cake supplies.  I usually just check around to see who is offering the best prices and lowest shipping - I use The Bakers Kitchen, Country Kitchen Sweet Art, Global Sugar Art and Cake Supplies Plus quite a bit, but they are tons out there.  Here is a link to a good instructional for the fondant pearls http://www.earlenescakes.com/prlinstruct.htm
