Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Hi All,

I covered a foam board with fondant.  My question is do you put the cake directly onto the fondant board or do you place the cake on a cake board and put that onto the fondant covered board.  Thank you!

I actually put the cake on the board first and then place the fondant on the board.
Thank you both for your advice. I will use a cake circle under the cake.
Jennifer - isn't it harder to cover the board with the cake on it??
I would do the same as Sherry. As for covering the board with the cake on it, the fondant is usually roll out like a sausage , then flattened. I would then roll it ,then unroll itaround the edges of the cake and cut off the excess. Some people prefers this method as it saves on the amount of fondant used. Personally, I prefer to cover the whole board with fondant, then place a cake circle underneath the cake before placing it on the fondant covered board.
