Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Father's Day Cake Contest:

Enter your Father's Day cake by Wednesday, June 6th for a chance to win. Sponsored by Simi Cakes. Simi Cakes offers cake decorating supplies and classes by Sidney Galpern.

1st place prize: $50 gift certificate to Simi Cakes

2nd place prize: $25 gift certificate to Simi Cakes

How To Enter:

Add the photo to your profile (not the forum). Photos must include a description of the materials/techniques used to make your cake.   Only cake entries will be accepted - no cupcakes, cake pops or cake balls. Cakes that do not fit the theme will not be entered.

The photo title (required) will be a suitable title for picture, but it may not remain a string of numbers associated with a file name on your computer. To enter the contest, add the TAG  516 to your picture. 1 entry per person and 1 photo per entry. All entries will be featured at the top of the photos page. (This is a manual process, so please be patient). If your photo has already been favorited, please upload the photo again. This is to create a level playing field.

The top ten cakes will be determined by the number of people selecting it as their favorite with the favorite button.  Voting will take place from Thursday, June 7th to Monday, June 11th. The top ten cakes will be displayed on Tuesday, June 12th. The judges will vote from June 13 - 14. The winners will be posted on Friday, June 15th.

Please do not solicit votes or your entry will be disqualified.

Congratulations, Julie F - 1st place and Tasha Nagy - 2nd place:

Yay! Good luck everyone!

Hi Theresa,

I entered a photo on my profile, and tagged it, but got a comment that I should enter it for the contest. I thought I put it in the right place. Can you confirm? I would really like to enter.

Tasha, one of your tags must be 516.  Once that is done we can enter the cake in the contest.  Let me know if you don't know how to add tags.

Hi Deah

I did tag it, when I added the photo :)

Hello,

I have been trying to upload a photo but everytime I click add photo it does not show a picture selected, i logged in and out several times, and same thing.Do you know why it is doing this?

Thanks!

KC, when you click the Add Photo icon a window should pop up to select the photo on your computer.  Are you seeing that and selecting the photo there?

Okay Theresa,

I think I've followed the rules this time around! I uploaded a cake that I've not published to CWB in the past so there were no previous "likes" on it. It is not designated in any way as a fathers day contest entry on any social network or my website. And I tagged it as 516 (no F) this time!

Rosemary

I added your cake Rosemary. :)  Good luck in the contest!

I have a question about the voting.  Are we allowed to let our friends know that we are entered in this contest without asking them to vote for us?  I don't want to break any rules by actually "soliciting" votes, but I would like to let my friends know I'm in it, at least.  How do I go about this?  Or are we not allowed to tell people?  I really want to play fair!!  :)

Rebecca, soliciting friends to vote would be a violation of the rules.  The intent of this rule is to allow the fellow CWB members (folks who know cake) vote so the deserving cake wins.  If we allowed solicitation of votes it would just become a popularity contest and many times the best work would not be highlighted.

Thanks so much for asking before you advertised your entry to your friends!
